Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft and Little Yellow Bicycle Blog Hop

Hi everyone, Mou here with today's project! Summer's here bringing with it lazy days, father's day, independence day, road trips, popsicles, lemonade stands and more. Even though there's still a little time before 4th of July, I wanted to make a card celebrating freedom!

To make this card, you'll need:
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft products
Little Yellow Bicycle products
Others
Cardstock, adhesive, paint brush, stamp
Here are some close-up shots of my card

You can follow these steps to remake this card:
  1. Attach 6x6 star patterned paper to 6.5" x 5" card and trim off excess.
  2. Using palette knife, apply gesso on the right half of the card.
  3. Color the burlap flag stickers with Blood Orange gelato and blend with wet brush. let the flags dry on their clear backing sheet.
  4. When dry, peel the burlap flag stickers and attach near the bottom of the card.
  5. Coat the cork alpha stickers with gesso and color with Gold Champagne gelato.
  6. Cut a small strip of coordinating patterned paper into a banner. Attach it above the burlap stickers.
  7. Add the sentiment 'Free' on the paper banner. Color the paper with a little bit of Blueberry gelato to make the sentiment stand out.
  8. When dry, ink up any scripty background stamp with Stamper's Big Brush pen and stamp randomly on the card.
  9. Attach star stickers on the card.
  10. Tuck a couple of star stick pins under the paper banner.
  11. Splatter some gesso, Gold Champagne, and Blueberry gelatos to finish the card.
Hope you enjoyed today's little tutorial. Stop by tomorrow for more inspiration!

Glitz Design Peekaboos

Don't you just love the name Peekaboos? Such a playful name for a fun product from Glitz Design!
If you are not familiar, Peekaboos are printed acetate/ transparency diecuts. So, there are colors, patterns, and yet you can peek through them! What I love most is the quality... it's not flimsy at all which makes it very easy to work with. In today's project, I used one of the Peekaboos from the Uncharted Waters collection.

And here's the card I made
And here are a few close-up shots

Here are the supplies I used on this card
Supplies:
Glitz Design Uncharted Waters Peekaboos
Glitz Design Uncharted Waters 12 x 12 paper Damask
Glitz Design Uncharted Waters Rubber Stamps
Glitz Design Uncharted Waters Washi Tape-Bokeh
Glitz Design Uncharted Waters Giant Rhinestones
Others: Cardstock, paint, thread, sequins

Making Art with Stampin' Up! Part 2

How do you like these colors?
Found this at Design-seeds.com.
The palette is close to the new Travel Girl collection from October Afternoon. So I picked these papers from the collection to make my layout

To keep so many colors and patterns from overwhelming my layout, I needed to use them in small pieces. For that I used this Hexagon punch from Stampin' Up's 25th Anniversary Celebration catalog!
Because the punched pieces fit together like puzzles, I could create a quick beehive background on white cardstock.

Here are some close-up shots.

As you can see that punching out desired sections of a patterned paper into a hip shape made for fun embellishments for my page. I think I'll be reaching for this geometric shape punch over and over for a while to come!

Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft 'Take the Challenge' June 2013

Hi everyone, welcome to the sixth 'Take the Challenge' of 2013!

I have started a challenge series over at the Faber Castell Design Memory Craft blog. I think you might enjoy participating in this challenge. I'll be posting the challenges here on my blog, but to win prizes you'll need to link you creations in your comments on the Design Memory Crafts blog to my challenge post.

I feel that creative challenges help us experiment and learn new things. Challenges can help us get unstuck from creative ruts. They can also inspire us to create in ways we would not have thought of otherwise. So, I decided to take a few creative challenges myself and thought you might like to play along.

Every month, on the first Monday, I'll post a challenge and my take on it. You'll have 12 days to take this on. Leave a comment to the challenge post with a link to your creation based on that challenge. The following Monday, we will pick TWO winners randomly from among the readers who participated in that week's challenge. And the winners will get a prize from Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft®.

It's the end of the school year. 2013 is almost half way through for all of us. In this time, we have all learned one thing or another. What one important lesson have you learnt this year so far or what one theme has stood out for you?

Today's challenge is about making something about that lesson.

I have been learning too, some through my kids, some through work, some from everyday life. Here's what I created--an art journal page made with some of my favorite Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft products.

First I coated the page with Gesso. Then rubbed Banana from the 50's Diner set and Watermelonfrom the Tropical Gelatos on the pages and blended the colors with the Mix & Match Deluxe Waterbrush.

I inked up a background stamp with Pink Madder Stamper's Big Brush pen and stamped on the background. I let some of the Gelato colors drip down.

I added my journaling with Pink Madder Stamper's Big Brush pen and Black PITT Artist pen. Finally, I doodled a bit on the pages with Art GRIP® Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils
I hope you too will take this creative challenge!

Don't forget to share your challenge creations with us... just leave a comment to the challenge post at the Design Memory Craft blog with link to your project image(s) by Friday, 6/14 and we will pick TWO winners randomly to win these.

The prizes for this challenge are: TWO sets of Gelatos® in the colors of your choice.

Don't forget to check back on Monday, 6/17  to see if YOU won!
